ForLan Films was established in May 2013 by four members of the Lanning family to develop and produce high quality projects for film and television


Steve Lanning

Primetime Emmy Award Winning Steve Lanning was born in London in 1948 into a film industry family. Steve excelled at every production grade. He was Assistant Director on many landmark movies including: The Omen, A Bridge Too Far, Superman, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Gandhi and Yentl. Moving up to Unit Production Manager, Line Producer and then finally to Producer.

Steve's television exploits have been equally impressive earning him International Emmy nominations and craft awards. He was awarded a Primetime Emmy for producing TV movie, ‘The Secret Garden’ for Hallmark / CBS. Steve’s own production companies have produced over a hundred hours of prime time International Drama.

Steve is producing limited drama series ‘Endangered’, and is also producing for television Stanley Kubrick’s epic mini-series, ‘God Fearing Man’.

Cliff Lanning

Cliff followed the footsteps of his father and uncles into the film industry.

Starting in the UK as a floor runner during the 1980's, Cliff has progressed through the ranks from 3rd Assistant Director to Producer working with some of the industries top talent along the way.

Currently living in Los Angeles, Cliff specialises in ‘Studio Tent-pole' movies.

Past credits include: Godzilla King of the Monsters, The Kings Man, Detective Pikachu, Jack Reacher, RED 2, Deepwater Horizon, Geostorm, Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix, GI Joe, Fantastic 4, Batman Begins, The Mummy, The Mummy II, The Fate of the Furious & Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.


Ben Lanning

Ben has spent the last 25 years working his way up through the production department.

Starting as a Production Assistant, Ben progressed through the ranks to become an accomplished Assistant Director working alongside award-winning filmmakers such as: Milos Forman, Guillermo Del Toro, Kathryn Bigelow, Ang Lee and Christopher Nolan.

Past credits include: Expendables 4 , The Outpost, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Hunter Killer, The Angel, Life of Pi, Zero Dark Thirty, Hellboy 2 and Batman Begins.

Ben is currently developing a Spanish series ‘ALPHA’ for the International streaming market, while further advancing other projects across the ForLan slate.

Jake Lanning

Jake started working in the industry in 1998 as an Editors Trainee at Yorkshire Television in Leeds. Jake then moved to London and worked as an Assistant Editor on various BBC & ITV television series including: Trial & Retribution, Harbour Lights & The Mystery of Men.

Over the years Jake quickly worked his way up the ranks to become one of the youngest Editors working on primetime television drama on productions such as: Dalziel & Pascoe, In Deep and Gamezville.

Starting his own production company in 2005, Jake has supervised the production and post-production of over 300 film, television and EPK projects whilst also creating video content for some of the largest corporations in the world.

Jake is currently producing limited TV drama series ‘Endangered,’ whist further developing other film & television projects across the ForLan slate.


Bill Kelman

Part of the ForLan team for over 10 years, Bill is an experienced filmmaker and film executive in distribution, acquisitions and development who has sold film projects as a writer and producer to various studios; including Warner Brothers, Paramount, New World, German companies Pro-Sieben and RTL and other indie production companies.

His cult film, “Mortuary Academy” starred Paul Bartel and Mary Woronov for RCA/Columbia.  He has the dubious recognition of having three films in the “Psychotronic Video Guide”.

He was a judge for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Nicholl Fellowship and has continued working with various screenwriting contests. As a journalist he has been published in the LA Times, Los Angeles Magazine, Millimeter, Fire Island News, Minority Business Report, LA Reader, Los Angeles Herald Examiner. He was at the American Film Institute on a screenwriting fellowship and has a BA from the University of Wisconsin.
